A Humble Beginning
She grew up in a modest home in Quebec, the youngest of 14 children. Life was busy, noisy, and far from glamorous. There were no industry connections or easy paths forward—just a young girl with a voice that stood out in a crowded household.
While other kids played outside, she found joy in singing. Family gatherings became her first stage, and even then, it was clear she had something special.
Doubt From the Outside World
At home, she was encouraged. Outside, it was a different story.
People criticized her appearance. Some said she didn’t look like a star. Others doubted she had what it took to succeed on a global level.
But none of that stopped her.
She kept singing, kept practicing, and kept believing—long before anyone else did.
A Risk That Changed Everything
At just 12 years old, her family helped her record a demo tape. It was a simple effort, but it reached the right person.
René Angélil heard her voice and saw something extraordinary. He believed in her so strongly that he took a major financial risk to support her first album.
