A Friendship That Changed Everything
Leo came home talking about his best friend, Sam. They’ve been close since elementary school. Sam uses a wheelchair, but that has never defined who he is to Leo.
Their school had planned a six-mile hiking and camping trip. But due to safety concerns, Sam was told he couldn’t join the full hike and would need to stay behind.
Leo didn’t argue at the time. He simply said, “It’s not fair.”
I didn’t realize then that he had already decided to do something about it.
