The search for Nancy Guthrie, mother of Savannah Guthrie, has entered its third week, and the urgency is only growing.
The 84-year-old went missing outside Tucson, Arizona, and investigators are following every lead in the hope of bringing her home safely. A masked man caught on a Ring camera at her home remains the primary clue, and a glove found two miles away is being analyzed for DNA.
While the sample didn’t match the FBI’s CODIS database, authorities now plan to explore commercial genealogy databases, searching for a breakthrough that could finally crack the case.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has emphasized that the case is far from cold. “As long as we have the ability to chase a lead, it’s not cold,” he said. Some 400 investigators are sifting through thousands of tips and leads, leaving no stone unturned. Nanos also directly appealed to the suspect: “Take her to a park.
Take her to the hospital. Just let her go. It will work out better for you in the long run.” He stressed that the operation remains a rescue mission, with hope for Nancy’s safe return at its core.
Meanwhile, Savannah Guthrie has poured her heart into finding her mother. In a recent Instagram plea, she spoke directly to the abductor, urging them to do the right thing and appealing to the “essential goodness of every human being.” Friends who’ve seen the clip say Savannah appears profoundly shaken — her grief visible and raw.
