A Valentine’s Lesson in Love, Communication, and Respect
Valentine’s Day had always held a special place in my heart, even in its simplest moments. That year, my boyfriend surprised me with plans for a dinner at one of the city’s most elegant restaurants. The ambiance was magical—soft music floating through the air, candles flickering across the tables, and a warm, romantic glow surrounding us. We spent the evening laughing, sharing stories, and savoring the moment, and for a while, everything felt perfectly orchestrated.
Then the bill arrived. It was higher than I had anticipated, and he casually suggested we split it evenly. I paused, surprised—this had been his idea, his planning, his choice of restaurant. Politely, I explained that I didn’t feel comfortable dividing the bill in this case, since I hadn’t had any part in organizing the evening.
