The search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie, has now stretched to 24 days. In a deeply emotional Instagram video, the Today co-anchor acknowledged the painful possibility that her mother may no longer be alive.
Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her home in the Catalina Foothills area north of Tucson, Arizona, on February 1. Since then, local and state authorities have pursued multiple investigative leads, treating the case as a potential abduction.
Ongoing Investigation in Arizona
According to investigators, a masked individual was captured on a Ring doorbell camera in the neighborhood around the time of Nancy’s disappearance. Law enforcement agencies have continued reviewing surveillance footage, digital evidence, and thousands of public tips as part of an extensive missing persons investigation.
As of February 24, Nancy Guthrie has been missing for 24 days.
Savannah Guthrie’s Heartbreaking Message
In a video shared on social media, Savannah spoke candidly about the emotional toll on her family.
“Hi there. I’m coming on to say it is day 24 since our mom was taken in the dark of night from her bed,” she said. “Every hour and minute and second and every long night has been agony since then — worrying about her, fearing for her, aching for her, and most of all just missing her.”
She also expressed gratitude for the widespread support from across the country, saying millions have offered prayers and encouragement during the ordeal.
Savannah urged people to “keep praying without ceasing,” adding that she still hopes for a miracle and believes her mother could return home safely.
At the same time, she made a difficult admission.
“We also know that she may be lost. She may already be gone,” Savannah said. “And if this is what is to be, then we will accept it — but we need to know where she is. We need her to come home.”
$1 Million Reward Offered
As the investigation continues, the Guthrie family has announced a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to Nancy’s recovery.
Authorities have reportedly received more than 18,000 tips in the first two weeks alone. Investigators are encouraging anyone with information — even if it seems minor — to come forward. Anonymous tips are accepted through a dedicated 1-800 hotline established for the case.
Law enforcement officials stress that even small details can be critical in missing persons cases.
Community and National Support
The disappearance has drawn national attention due to Savannah Guthrie’s prominent role in broadcast journalism and the concerning circumstances surrounding the case. Community members in Tucson and supporters across the country continue to follow updates closely.
As the search moves into its fourth week, officials say the case remains active and urgent. For the Guthrie family, the hope for answers — and closure — remains at the center of every passing day.
