Shia LaBeouf is making headlines again — and it’s not for a movie role. The 39-year-old actor is facing legal trouble after an alleged violent incident during Fat Tuesday celebrations, the final day of Mardi Gras. According to police reports, LaBeouf was removed from a business following a disturbance, but the situation escalated.
Authorities say that once outside, LaBeouf reportedly struck a person multiple times with his fists. Witnesses claim he returned shortly after, appearing more aggressive, and allegedly punched the same individual in the nose. Several bystanders reportedly intervened to hold him down until law enforcement arrived.
The actor was taken to a hospital to treat unspecified injuries before being formally arrested. Police records state he has been charged with two counts of simple battery. Details about what sparked the altercation remain unclear.
This incident adds to a string of legal and personal challenges for LaBeouf over the past few years. In 2020, his ex-girlfriend, singer FKA Twigs, accused him of abuse, a dispute that was later settled out of court.
At the time, LaBeouf publicly addressed his struggles with alcoholism, aggression, and PTSD, acknowledging, “I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt.” He also emphasized that he was committed to recovery but admitted he was “not cured” of his past issues.
